World Mental Health Day

World Mental Health Day takes place on Thursday, October 10th, and to show our support we will be hosting a number of activities throughout the week. The annual event is a chance to raise awareness of issues around mental health and to get people talking to break down stigma.

This year’s theme

This year, the World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH) has made “suicide prevention” the theme of World Mental Health Day. On average around 800 000 people die by suicide globally.

Mind is a partner in the delivery of Time to Change which for World Mental Health Day is urging people to ‘Ask Twice’ if they suspect a friend, family member, or colleague might be struggling with their mental health. The simple act of asking again, with interest, can help someone to open up for the first time.

Join us

Our staff and volunteers will be out and about throughout the week around World Mental Health Day, including our fundraising and training teams who will be attending events in support of this year’s theme. Our children and young people’s staff will also be hosting school workshops.

Take a look at our public events in the table below and join us!
