Lee – Wellbeing Hub Volunteer

  I like giving something back by volunteering for Coventry and Warwickshire Mind because the charity has helped me so much. I joined Coventry and Warwickshire Mind in 2015 after being referred by a GP for depression, and it is because of Coventry and Warwickshire Mind that I’m going to the gym which has helped my weight loss greatly.

It has also helped me to be less reclusive then I once was and inspired me to do more in mental health which is why I shall be going to university to study person-centred counselling. I’d like to pursue a career in mental health and volunteering for the Rugby Wellbeing Hub has helped to broaden my knowledge and expertise.

Volunteering also gives me a sense of purpose and I like to meet so many different people, whether it’s out on community outreach or making teas and coffees twice a week at the drop-in.

Having experience of depression, I feel very strongly about mental health and its effect on young people in particular.
