My name is Kerry and I’m 35. I have two young children (who take up most of my time!), as well as a part-time job.
My interest in Coventry & Warwickshire Mind was captured when I started looking into the services available to women in Coventry, as part of my research for my Access to Midwifery course.
Mums in Mind offers expectant and new mums support in their journey to becoming a mum and beyond!
This type of voluntary work has provided me with valuable firsthand experience, which has helped develop my understanding of the emotional needs of new mums.
Following the excellent training and support given, my role as a voluntary befriender enables me to offer both practical and emotional support. My weekly visits encourage mums to develop their coping skills, increase their social and support networks and help improve their confidence and self esteem.
I find my role extremely rewarding – I feel very privileged to help nurture the bond between mum and baby. As little as two hours a week really can make such a difference!
