Please note that currently appointments are only conducted via telephone and the team answering calls at our telephone referral centre is smaller than usual to allow for social distancing, so please bear with us!
IAPT is a service provided by the NHS Partnership Trust and CW Mind for people who are feeling stressed, anxious, low in mood or depressed. We can provide advice, information and therapy.
Who is it for?
It is a service for people age 16 and above, who are registered with a GP in Coventry and Warwickshire and who feel stressed, anxious, low in mood or depressed. Ideally, you will be ready to make changes in your life and be wanting to build on your strengths and learn new coping skills.
How can I contact you?
You can refer yourself to the IAPT service by calling: 024 7667 1090 Monday to Friday 9am-4.30pm (excluding Bank Holidays).
Your GP may well have recommended that you contact the service.
What will happen when I contact you?
We will take your details and initially we will offer an assessment to discuss what would be most helpful to you. The first step will generally be a telephone appointment, so please let us know if this is a problem for you. Your telephone appointment will be within 28 days of your first call to the services.
What can I expect?
You will be able to talk about your concerns; this is only available by telephone at present.
You will be listened to without judgement.
You will have an opportunity to talk through issues you feel are important and how these can be addressed.
At the end of the assessment we will discuss the next steps with you.
If IAPT is the best service to help you, you will be offered a choice of evidence based Psychological Interventions that are appropriate for your needs. This may include the following:
- Psychological Education courses
- Computerised CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy)
- Guided self-help, helping you manage your symptoms.
- Group or Individual Therapy
- Books on prescription where available and recommended helpful reading
IAPT also provide information about other local resources that might be helpful. It may be that IAPT is not the best service to help you, or that you need more than IAPT is able to offer. If so, we will help you to find other services that are better suited to your needs.
How will I know it is helping me?
Your progress will be reviewed through discussion and regular use of short, simple questionnaires.
Our staff work in four locality teams based in Coventry, Rugby, North Warwickshire and South Warwickshire. This means we can provide you with support close to where you live or in the locality of your choice.
The service is run jointly by Coventry & Warwickshire Partnership Trust and Coventry & Warwickshire Mind.
All staff are trained in the use of psychological therapies.
