ASD social clubs
About us
The social clubs are open to children and young people at the medium to high functioning end of the Autistic Spectrum, such as those with Asperger Syndrome and High Functioning Autism (HFA).
The groups are split up by age as follows:
Younger Group: 7-10 years
Middle Group: 11-15 years
Older Group: 16-19 years
Each group meets once a week after school during term time and provide a variety of social and informal educational opportunities which encourage young people to develop their confidence, self-esteem, social skills and understanding of their emotional health.
What we do
The social clubs provide a variety of social and informal educational opportunities which encourage the young people to develop their confidence, self-esteem, social skills and understanding of their emotional health.
The sessions are highly flexible to meet the needs and interests of group members. Some of the activities that take place include:
- Variety of games to promote socializing
- Table Tennis
- Snooker
- Quizzes
- Puzzles
- Outdoor games / sports, such as football
- Board Games
- Card Games
- Crafts
- Team Games such as Pictionary
- Computer Access
The members of the social clubs are welcome to bring ideas for activities to the attention of the staff, who will try to incorporate these ideas into the sessions where possible.
Refreshments are provided.
